United at Heart
A crazy year is coming to an end. The year 2020 presented us all with unprecedented challenges – as a society, as individuals, as athletes, and even us as a young company. We look back on a time when our lives were turned upside down, when every day had something new in store for us, and everything turned out differently than expected. Our world has changed fundamentally, but this is exactly where we see an opportunity: the chance to change with it.
We can already say we have grown with the situation. We found creative ways to compensate for the many unusual events. Thanks to remote work, we have remained agile and still have grown closer together as a team. We have learned to approach things with a certain ease and to always focus on the solution rather than the problem. With the move to our new office, we created a space for good ideas, exciting encounters, and the individual development of every one of us. Last but not least, we have met impressive people who not only share our vision, but enrich our work every day. We are deeply grateful for that.
Meticulousness and a pioneering spirit were again our driving force in product development this year. Our Verge Aero Sleeve Tri Suit, the reflective jackets of the Lumina Series, and the recycled Arctech Loft Jacket, are just some of the innovative results. They set standards, and with their function, accompany and support athletes on their own path. Sustainability continues to play a major role for us. We are proud that, as of this year, all of our products have been made in the EU, a large number of them from 100% recycled fabrics. This is because careful and sustainable use of resources is an integral part of our DNA.
The involuntary deceleration of work, coupled with our innermost convictions, gave us the opportunity to reflect on what defines us at heart. This is how our United in Humanity Project, which is aimed at setting an example for humanity, came into being at the beginning of the year. We want to support those who need help in these special times, and beyond. Thanks to the commitment of our community, we were able to promote various humanitarian campaigns. For example, we provided urgently needed protective masks to care facilities in Manresa (Spain), Wendelstein, and the Cologne association “Körbe für Köln.” In cooperation with the Johanneshaus in Cologne, we gave homeless people free access to disinfectants, and we made a donation of cash and T-shirts to the Hilfspunkt Hamburg, which supports needy people in all situations. In addition, through a donation to the organization “World Bicycle Relief”, we were able to equip people in the Global South with bicycles and thus make them mobile in the long term.
In April, Jan Frodeno was also able to collect a large donation for Corona aid with his Tri@Home. He covered a complete triathlon distance within his own home and inspired people around the world to deal with the situation positively.
We were able to experience and tell more exciting stories from inspiring people this year through the launch of Project Horizon, such as Lukas Rathgeber's Thin Air Project in the Alps, Perrine Fages's Norway adventure, and Jonas Deichmann's sporty circumnavigation of the world. They all show us that if we don't set limits for ourselves, if we go outside and leave our comfort zone, then we will experience great things.
Even if we have mastered the challenges of the past few months well, we still lack the shared moments and experiences that connect us as people. What makes us positive is the certainty that at some point they will be part of our everyday life again. When that day comes, our appreciation for these personal encounters will be all the greater.
Our vision and drive are based on the belief that athletes are united by something greater than themselves. We have been able to observe the immensely positive energy sport can generate, especially in times of crisis. This experience embodies our innermost values: cohesion, perseverance, ambition, and above all, respect and humanity. That is exactly what connects us with you and all other athletes; what makes us part of the Ryzon Tribe.
Short distances and direct contacts are still an essential part of our corporate culture. This is also reflected in our direct sales model, which enables us to work closely with suppliers and producers. At the same time, we want to make a direct connection with athletes like you. We can only continue to develop with your feedback. We can only change things together – in sport and beyond.
In the year 2021, let's stand up again together for what connects us: the urge for freedom, respect for our fellow human beings and for our environment, the desire for community and solidarity, and a pioneering spirit for innovation. Let's shape the future together.
United at heart. Forging the future.
