On her own

On her own

30 days. 3,500 kilometers. A great cycling adventure.

In August, Wiebke Lühmann cycled alone from Hamburg to the North Cape. Her longtime friend Fabienne Engel accompanied her with her camera. The result is a film about traveling alone, about self-realization and freedom. A film that is meant to encourage. To set out and expand one's own horizons.

I have a very great basic trust in myself that I adapt to what happens along the way. Also to the load, to cycling. A basic trust that I can make realistic decisions. And that I can also manage my fears and doubts.

For Wiebke, life is all about being free and expanding your horizons. That's why her goal for 2022 was to travel from Hamburg to the North Cape. Without planning a precise route, she simply set off at the beginning of August, camping wildly on the very first night. Throughout the journey, it was particularly important for her to always remain spontaneous and to be guided only by her own needs.

It's about being good to myself every day and making the right choices for me. That's what it's all about on the road.

After 30 days and 3,500 kilometers, she finally arrived at the North Cape - exhausted and tired, but happy, full of satisfaction and gratitude. The impressions, the self-awareness, the people, the nature, having grown beyond herself - no one can take that away from her.

With the film about the journey Wiebke wants to inspire and touch people. Empower them to find their own adventures and dare to set out. And she did this together with her best friend Fabienne from school days, who filmed, edited and produced the travel documentary. The film music was largely composed and produced by Claudia Döffinger, a RYZON colleague from Cologne. This is also what it's all about: celebrating a project by three women. Empowering each other and making them visible.
