United In Humanity // Leave No One Behind

United In Humanity // Leave No One Behind

In view of the global Corona pandemic, it is now more important than ever to act in solidarity and support those who have been particularly hard hit by this catastrophe. In addition to the elderly, poor, homeless, and immunocompromised, these include in particular refugees at the EU's external borders.

Several thousand people are stranded in refugee camps at the EU's external borders. Conditions are catastrophic, lacking everything from medical assistance to basic services and hygiene. Trapped and isolated on the islands, people are defenseless against the pandemic.

For this reason, when the Corona pandemic began in early 2020, various non-profit associations and initiatives launched the Leave No One Beh ind campaign. Their goal: to stand up for the rights of refugees in camps like Moria on the Greek island of Lesbos, to become politically active, to create awareness, and to improve the situation on the ground with aid packages.

Leave No One Behind's latest campaign under the motto "10,000 shoes," a large appeal is to collect 10,000 pairs of shoes for people fleeing. Because the dramatic conditions on the ground mean that thousands of people in Greek camps and on the Bosnian border have no proper shoes. A circumstance that is not only degrading, but can also be dangerous because the people are relentlessly exposed to the weather and other extreme conditions. For this reason, we want to support the campaign and help to meet the need for sturdy footwear at the EU's external borders, at least to some extent.

Leave No One Behind is appealing for donations of shoes as well as money to finance the purchase of new shoes and the transport. Therefore, we have already sent a package with shoes from our own environment and made a donation of 1,500 euros from the United in Humanity donation pot. Now it's up to you.
